Port Elgin | by Craig Power

In recognition of Canada's 150th Birthday, Ben Lobb, would like to honour great Canadians throughout Bruce and Huron Counties.

In recognition of Canada's 150th Birthday, Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb, would like to share that honour with great Canadians throughout Bruce and Huron Counties.

MP Lobb tells 98 The Beach (Bayshore Broadcasting News) he really wanted a way to thank our extraordinary citizens who have made outstanding contributions locally.

MP Lobb is currently seeking nominations for individuals who have contributed and there really is no limit to what those contributions may be.

"It can be you've contributed to sports, you've contributed to community groups, you contributed to youth, to seniors, to the environment, whatever it may be if you've done something great throughout your life or just starting out, then we'd love to have you submit your nomination," says Lobb.

There are a few criteria for nominating a person:

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Must have made a significant contribution to their community within Canada, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada
  • Must have demonstrated good citizenship in their community
  • Must have been alive on February 15th, 2017

Now, MP Lobb says the medal can be awarded posthumously as long as the recipient was alive on the said date.

Those being nominated must be residents within the Huron-Bruce riding.

Nominations should be submitted to MP Ben Lobb's Port Elgin Office and must contain the person's full name, rank and title, home address, phone number and a short statement explaining the reason behind the nomination.

The deadline to submit nominations is June 1st, 2017.
