JUNE 1, 2013 - You may have recently heard automated emergency weather alert statements broadcast on the Beach! These are the result of a pilot project involving 98 the Beach, local emergency management organizations, and the generous support of Bruce Power. NAAD stands for National Alert Aggregation & Dissemination and allows authorized government authorities to broadcast immediate public safety messages on our station.
In the event of a major storm or disaster capable of significant injury or property damage, these alerts will cut into our regular broadcast to provide important information for you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 98 the Beach is one of just a handful of radio stations in the province that have adopted this very helpful public safety measure.
We are still making adjustments to the system (including volume levels, and determining exactly what sort of alerts are broadcast) and welcome any feedback you may have. Please write us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions/comments/concerns about NAAD alerts on our station!
